There weren't any dirty spots, as if somebody had not lived in it yet. They would even change beds from a single to a double if you like. The floor was accident proof - not slick that the patient could fall down - and that was impressive for that part of the room. The adjoining bathroom was really impressive because it had a built-in seat on which the patient could sit to get a bath or a shower, and they had a place for them to place their clothes. I saw two rooms, and they were wonderful. We went through the first floor of the building. They did have security for the memory wing, and I was pleased with the schedule that she was telling me about. I spoke with the director who showed me around along with my sister-in-law, and I thought the facility was just great. The Crossings at Columbia was simply wonderful. They had nice parking, and they had some nice garden spot that the apartment could look out on. Crossings at Columbia was my first choice but it was out of my price range. It was awesome I was not prepared for that. They have a concierge, they have a person to walk me around, and they have a person to greet me. The balconies can be opened, can be screened in or can be glassed in like a small other room, so you'll have a whole other space. One of the coolest things they have there is that they all have either a balcony or patio. When I left, they gave me a brochure full of all kinds of good stuff. The people who showed me around were wonderful. The kitchen is bigger than what I have at my house. They have most anything you could think of. They don't have a swimming pool, but they have an exercise room, movie room, art room, piano downstairs in the great room, and three meals a day. I could do a 1-bedroom but I'm not ready to live in a box yet. The Crossings at Columbia (Harmony at Columbia) is too expensive, but I like it very much. They were just raving about how nice it is there and how great the food is. The food looked great, and the people that we met were so friendly. It is either an outdoor enclosed patio or a fully enclosed patio, so there is like an extra bonus room in a sense. Architecturally, they just did really interesting things, so it was really nicely done. The use of space was bigger than it was for the other facility, so you had this sense of a lot of space. The apartments were spacious and beautiful. The good thing about Harmony at Columbia is that you can go from independent living to assisted living right there in the same facility without having to move, and they're just separated by a hallway. It was definitely a very pretty facility. They built a park area out and around the perimeter, so some of the trees were still being developed, but they are going to be really nice once everything is all built up and grown in. They were really big and spacious, and they had nice views. She was super professional, and she was wonderful. The staff member at Harmony at Columbia was really nice, very friendly, and very knowledgeable of the seniors, their needs, and the facilities that they have to offer. They work with my budget, and they were able to help me keep in the budget that I had to stay in. They go out once or twice a week on a bus if you want to go like out to dinner or out to the park, it depends on what they wanted to do. My mother-in-law has some physical limitations, so they were doing chair exercises, coffee chats, and some strengthening to help her. They have all sorts of activities, and it depends on what they can do. I've been there when they're serving food, and it smells and looks very good. My husband said he wouldn't mind moving in there. Every place that I've been in (like the dining hall, the activity center, the different rooms, and every office) has been clean and well-maintained. When I walked in, it felt very clean and very fresh. She has felt very comfortable from the first time she walked in the door there. They've been very caring and they're taking good care of her. I felt very comfortable as soon as I walked in. My mother-in-law has moved into assisted living at Harmony at Columbia. I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
